Solo Travel

Don't worry about travelling solo

Solo travel can seem like a daunting prospect, but Gap Year For Grown Ups can assure you that you won't be travelling solo for long if you don't want to be. Over 70% of our participants are solo travellers and they are always surprised to hear that they aren't the only one travelling solo.

Solo Travel Solo travel means freedom…
There are actually many benefits to solo travel. Firstly, take a moment to ponder how many people you know, that you would like to travel with. Bear in mind that you would be with that person pretty much 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! We are guessing that you are starting to realise the benefits of travelling solo!
Travel alone Solo travel means flexibility…
Solo travel also means that you don't have anyone else to worry about! This may sound selfish, but think of it as being flexible. Your trip should be exactly that - yours - doing what you want to do, when you want to do it.
Travel by myself You will meet people very easily if travelling solo
You will find that you will meet fellow travellers much more easily than if you are travelling with a friend or partner. The reason for this is because you will seem more approachable, other solo travellers will want to chat to you, and we are sure that you will want to chat to them too!
Travel Solo You won't be travelling solo for long!
Remember that once you begin your Gap Year For Grown Ups programme, you will be with other participants, coordinators and local people so your worries about travelling solo will soon fade away. In fact, before you depart, we can even put you in touch with people who are going to be on the same programme as you.

If you still have doubts about travelling solo then simply call the Gap Year For Grown Ups office and chat to one of our travel advisors - most of them also set out on their trips as solo travellers so they can tell you all about their experiences.
